Cycling Mt. Lemmon for a thrill

Jeremiah Inn is becoming known as the premier bed and breakfast for cyclists (or so they tell us!).  Located a few pedal strokes from the start of the Mt. Lemmon ascent, offering garaged bicycle storage and a place to do simple maintenance on equipment, and serving a breakfast that provides generous fuel for cycling makes our cycling guests happy, and that makes us happy.  It is 26 miles to the top of this well paved road and last week a cyclist report hitting a downhill speed of 46 MPH.  EEEEK!  Check us out.

Trip Advisor Reviews Help Guests, Too

We learned about TripAdvisor, from a guest several years back.  This popular web site posts reviews of lodgings, attractions, restaurants, and more submitted by guests and patrons. We have since learned to search the reviews ourselves when traveling and have been delighted by the numerous guests who have taken their time and energy to write of their experiences at Jeremiah Inn.  Time and again, when asked, a guest will tell us that they found us on Trip Advisor first.  Reviews have helped us see the Jeremiah Inn through the eyes of those who choose to stay with us, and encourage us even after 16 years of innkeeping! Whether you stay at Jeremiah Inn or another property on any travel, taking your time to review your stay will help future guests select their lodgings.  Thank you, reviewers!

El Tour de Tucson this weekend – Nov. 19, 2011

Jeremiah Inn has its welcome mat out for the 9000 cyclists expected to take part in the 2011 El Tour de Tucson this coming Saturday, Nov. 19.  Tucson’s blue skies should be brilliant with temperatures in the 60′s and 70′s.  If bicycling isn’t your sport, hiking, climbing in the Catalina Mountains and birding are draws, too.  Jeremiah Inn is located one mile from the base of the Catalina Mountains, and just east of Sabino Canyon, so the B & B location is perfect for the outdoor enthusiast.  Our full cooked breakfasts will fuel you for wherever your day takes you.

It’s Deer Season at the B & B

Exiting the parking lotLast evening a young buck wandered through the Jeremiah Inn property.  Our 3.3 acres near the Catalina Mountains means that we often see local wildlife.  This fellow munched on the barrel cactus and eyed some potted marigolds before traveling on. A young buck enjoys the barrel cactus - seen from Rincon Room

Fall Color in Tucson? Yes!

Just 26 miles from Jeremiah Inn B & B you’ll arrive at the top of Mount Lemmon and the beautiful display of aspen and maple fall color.

Tucson Classics Car Show – October 22, 2011

Jeremiah Inn is happy to help promote the Tucson Classics Car Show, coming October 22, 2011 and held at St. Gregory Preparatory School, 3231 N. Craycroft Road.  For detailed information and to purchase tickets, see their web site at http://www.tucsonclassicscarshow.com/.  Jeremiah Inn will even make it a “free” event for you – and here’s how.  Make your reservation with us and let us know you are going to the show.  Bring us your ticket stub and we will deduct up to two tickets, at $5 each, from your room rate.  Regular rate is $130./nt.  It’s a great show, according to guests who have attended in the past, and it benefits the Rotary Club’s support of local charities, including Reading Seed Children’s Literacy Program.  Call soon!

Tucson’s Postal History Foundation – Stamps!

Tucson is home to the Postal History Foundation http://www.postalhistoryfoundation.org/, truly a treasure find!  Today the Jeremiah Inn innkeepers took time to stop by this museum at 920 North First Ave, just west of the University of Arizona, and they were amazed.  The museum contains an historic preserved post office from Naco, AZ, outstanding displays of philatelic interest, an active program to teach children through stamps, and a wonderful library on site.  If you collected stamps in your youth (or retirement)  you will be interested to explore its displays.  As a non-profit organization, the Postal History Foundation can receive your tax deductible donations of stamps, as well.  Today there were dozens of volunteers removing and preserving stamps, and we took materials to share with some of our educator friends as the PHF sends its ambassadors into the schools to educate and inform.  There is also an active Post Office on site that is full service and has the newest stamps to sell.  Makes me want to go pen a letter right now!

Night Sky Viewing on Mount Lemmon

Jeremiah Inn is the closest Bed and Breakfast to the Mount Lemmon Skycenter and an out-of-this-world experience reported by our guests.  A program of nightly viewing of stars and planets is offered by  http://skycenter.arizona.edu/.  We would encourage you to visit their web site and see some of the incredible astrophotography by Adam Block, the presenter of the SkyNights program.  The $48/person cost includes a light dinner and a 5 hour program, beginning before sunset and ending by about 9pm.  You’ll be back to Jeremiah Inn by 10pm.  Prepare to be amazed!

Cycling Mount Lemmon

They’ve done it again….guests successfully cycled up Mount Lemmon (and back down again!) today, with the help of Cycle Tucson   http://www.cycletucson.com/ who delivered two Cannondale bikes to Jeremiah Inn last evening – right at 5:30pm as they had promised, and returned at 4:00pm today to pick them up.  The guests enjoyed an early 7:00am breakfast of a yogurt parfait with granola, fruit selection, juice, and hearty cinnamon/craisin oatmeal topped with granola and honey and were on the road by 8:00.  They took fresh cookies and carried three bottles of water each.  Water was refilled near the Palisades Visitors Center, about 22 miles from Jeremiah Inn.  They stopped at the Iron Door Cafe at Ski Valley for lunch and returned by 3:00pm.  Temperatures were great and the road was uncrowded.   You might want to consider this adventure yourself!  Call 520-749-3072 to reserve at Jeremiah Inn.
