A must see addition to the Pima Air and Space Museum is a B-36J Peacemaker. This incredible plane, the largest bomber ever built, has a 230′ wingspan, with 3 pusher propeller engines and 2 jet engines on each wing. As the last piston engine powered bomber, 383 were built between 1947 and 1954. All were out of service by early 1959 and many of these planes were stored at Davis Monthan Air Force Base, in Tucson, until they were recycled. There are only 4 of these planes left, and Tucson’s Pima Air and Space Museum is fortunate to have one in their collection. We, at Jeremiah Inn, were fortunate to have heard stories about the B-36 from a guest who had been a trainer of pilots for this plane.
